Comments:
What a blast!! Thanks to Jim & Sue for the great hospitality!! Jim has put a
TON of work into his station (not the least of which is the great new shack).
First time really getting into SO2R -- once I got my head wrapped around it,
it
is a total BLAST. Just working the second radio keeps you interested and alert
when you're sleep deprived! Started contest 4 hours late -- had home
commitments I could not get out of -- so, probably missed 100 or so Qs because I
had to operate during some hours I'd normally sleep... Ended up getting 1.5 hrs
sleep from 3:00-5:00am. My peak rate of 126 was on 20m, of all places. As
usual, 40m was the production band, with 20 right behind.. We had a flare
Sunday, which killed the bands completely for about 20 mins -- I stayed CQing on
15m, and ended up working a bunch of locals. Did not worry about mults -- had
79 by 10 am Sunday moring -- but never a peep of VY1JA or others -- bet the
auroral curtain was kiling sigs to W1.
Thanks to all the casual YCCC'ers who dropped by for a point!
CU in SS SSB from K1TTTs place (I wonder how many people get confused by
my section -- it's been NH, WMA, EMA and NH is past SS'?)
73,
Gerry, W1VE
