The score includes 12,000 bonus points.

How to describe the 2003 Texas QSO Party.... WOW. The is my fifth year
participating in the QSO Party, each year as a "SO - IN STATE - FIXED LOCATION".
I have found that I can always depend on two things being consistent. The
participation is going up each and every year and I always have a GREAT time. I
was expecting the recent band conditions and state of the solar cycle to be a
big impact, well - it was. I think it kept most stations on 20 and 40 mtrs and
the action was fast and furious. I did manage a few Qs on 10, 15 and 80 - but
20 and 40 were definitely the money bands.

My most interesting contact was on 15m SSB with a station in the Virgin Islands
running / MM from his 40' sail boat. His home QTH was California and I was
asked to pass some traffic to his son that "they had arrived safely" - "were on
the boat" and "were headed south toward Venezuela." I made that call and
unfortunately his son was not home, so I left a voice mail with the info. I was
having fun in the contest, but somehow the VP2 QTH and trip sounded like it was
just a bit more fun! ! ! This is the first time during the middle of a contest
I was asked to pass traffic... and I actually did !

I would like to thank everyone that I had the opportunity to contact during the
18 hours, especially the TEXAS mobiles that really make the event interesting.
I would also like to congratulate Bob Pack and the M/M crew at NX5M for the most
absolutely outstanding score yet. Bob, your score could be a TQP record for
years to come. Although not yet posted, I believe the M/M crew of K5CWR/M will
also be posting a score in excess of 1M points. Another job WELL DONE.

Now it is time to sit back and watch the web site for all the score postings to
occur to see how everyone did. Who won what? What Club finishes in first
place?

See ya'all next year -

73.
