Comments:
New OptiBeam OB16-3 and Cal-Av 2D-40A @88/74 feet were awesome, especially on
receive - I only had to give up on three callers. Ran 42 times for 11 hours
(1/3 of time on) and made 793 (50%) of my QSOs; worked Spots or S&P for the
remaining 2/3 of time; worked Spots for 500 QSOs (30% of total) and S&P for 325
QSOs (20% of total). I played a lot with the antennas for front to back, and
found side nulls on OB16-3 completely eliminated all of the southeast USA while
running Europe. I used some of the Sunday spot pileups to compare signals, and
gave the Orion 2800 "positioner"'s a real workout; I've now learned to live with
its digital display, and only 17 degrees of overlap, but I still prefer a
compass rose display.
