Comments:

Wow! This has to be the best contest we've ever done from the N4GN QTH.
Everything pretty much worked as it should. We had lots of good runs,
with sustained CW rates often at 150 QSOs/hr and a new personal best 189
hour on SSB during the Saturday night JA run. I've NEVER been able to run
JA like that from here before. I just couldn't believe how incredibly
quiet my frequency seemed to be--I could hear every QRP JA and weak U.S.
stn on backscatter. But someone turned off the JA switch at exactly 0115Z
Sunday, where we had JAs well past 0200Z the first night.

Worked SEVEN WY stns on SSB, but couldn't get any of them to move to CW!
One guy said he was going to the basement to get his key, but he never
came back. Maybe the ARRL could give N7NG a little vacation in
mid-December next year and let him return to Wyoming for this one!

Is it just me, or are packet spots getting worse? I'd guess fully 10% of
all the spots were busted. It was almost comical to see how many
variations could be made out of HT9T, XT2TI, etc. Someone even spotted me
once as K4GN, and I started getting an amazing number of dupes calling.
I finally had to QSY! It was interesting to see the N0AX-generated spots
that were prefixes only. Maybe we'll try that next time we do a multi-op
here.

The sporadic-E and meteor scatter QSOs really add to the fun of this
contest. The E clouds were really moving around Saturday night, with
Texas being consistently loud, and Florida also in play quite a bit. A
few quick openings to W1/W2/W3 made for some brief but hectic runs. The
late 1800-2100Z openings to UA1/OH/LA are to be expected in this contest
when condx are really good, but this time it extended well into UA3 and
UA9.

All in all, it was a terrific contest. Can't wait to see what propagation
is like a year from now!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

73,

Tim Totten, N4GN
