Comments:

Decided a few hours before NAQP test to drive up to Cheyenne, WY and operate
NAQP/CW from the mobile using an old IC735 and Hustler antennas. Operating
from a rare multiplier is a nice change of pace.

Set up at the WY Information Center parking lot at south end of town and rolled
windows down since it was HOT wx that day. - Soon had a number of citizens
curious as what I was doing since they could hear the CW over the speaker. One
interested fellow stopped by who had been a Navy radio op on a submarine and
could copy the CW even after a number of years off the air. He recognized some
of the ham equipment since a friend on-board had been a ham. Tried to recruit
him into ham radio since he already knew the code! -Had a couple other people
tell me they thought ham radio was dead due to the internet and CB. Others
were just curious as to what the code signals meant.

Thanks for hearing my weak mobile sig - had some nice runs on 15 and 20. I had
to write fast due to paper/pencil logging; sure missed the computer. Didn't
have time to do a manual dupe sheet causing me to call a few who I had already
worked. However, this usually led to a request for a QSY to another band so I
didn't waste his time or mine. It was a bit tough QSYing for those who wanted
the section since I had to run back to Hustler mobile antenna and replace the
resonator with the appropriate band element. Did a little retuning and then
was ready to go. Most people were patient while I fiddled with the ant. Need
a better mobile antenna system for instant band change.

Had some fun passing out the WY multiplier from the mobile. BTW, someone back
east could have fun doing the same thing for DE, RI, VT and VE1 sections that I
didn't hear during the CW NAQP.

73 Ken, W0ETT/m
