Hello contesters ? this is a copy of a message I am
sending to the WPX contest administrators. Sick and
tired of this crap.
Just finished operating WPX SSB.
TO5T (operated by FM5BH) should be disqualified for
the 2001 WPX SSB contest.
I heard him repeatedly on the air asking for USA
stations to spot him on the packet networks. I
confronted him on 21.207.4 at 2113Z on Saturday
immediately after he worked KB3BOY and asked ?BOY to
spot him on the networks (which, I see, did happen)
and told him he was violating the contest rules and to
stop what he was doing. He told me to mind my own
business and he?d do whatever he wanted. I suppose
that works for me as well.
Also, FM5BH was self-spotting himself during the
contest on the packet networks. If he?s single op
unassisted this is a gross violation of the rules and
surely reason for a DQ. If single op assisted or a
multi-op, still reason to be disqualified. See the
packet capture here:
14148.0 TO5T 24-Mar-2001 0855Z VIA FM5BH
FM <FM5BH>
There are also numerous spots from FM5 stations
spotting him, one of which was two minutes after the
one above and was an exact copy, to the letter, of the
spot listed above using a different FM5 callsign as
the spotter. One can easily surmise that he was also
spotting himself using other FM5 callsigns during the
contest. There are numerous spots of TO5T by FM5
stations through the contest period listed in the
packet archives.
Since there is no refereeing of major contests, only
peer pressure can be brought to bear to make blatant
cheating like this be paid for with a
disqualification. It simply would not be fair for
another honest op to lose this contest, or a shot at a
world record for single ops, because of blatant
cheating by another competitor.
Hope this is taken under consideration.
