Quick Soapbox:
* Wow, doubled last year's M/S score and creamed our 1996 M/2 score.
The bands are on their way back.
* 10M never really opened until late Sunday for the usual QSO per island
S&P in the Caribbean
* 15M open to EU both days, though missed most of Sunday opening as it
was very early and 20M was way to much fun. It was wide open to JA
both Friday and Saturday afternoon as well. The band was so quiet for
us we were able to run stations that did not even move the S-meter.
* 20M open to EU and JA at the same time on Sunday. Best EU opening in
recent memory on Sunday. Band opened all the way at dawn. I remember
working a station in France running 2 watts. He was loud and clear
through the QRM. I had to ask him what antenna he used. His answer
explained his signal strength though it was not what I expected to
hear -- a Rhombic. How many of those are still out there? Oh yea,
20M on Saturday to EU was good as well, though not like on Sunday.
And, how about that QRMMMMMMMM? I thought with 15M opening it was
supposed to spread everyone out more. Instead it was worse than ever.
* 40M outstanding. Solid openings to EU which we have not had in years.
To JA incredible. Saturday night we ran and ran with many 10 watters in
the log. To bad we had too many sleep hours. We could easily have
worked another 150-200 JA's.
* 80/160M surprising low. In part since we missed 80/160 master NK7U
on Friday night caring for sick child. But both these bands seem to
be suffering lately per comments back from CQWW SSB last year. Is
participation dropping off here first?
Anyway a bunch of good stories, will send them on later.
Scott/K7ZO for the NK7U contesting crew.
