We had fun. Bettered last years score by 11% even with cruddy condx on 80 &
160. The JA's are back! Huge runs of them! First time with 3 tx's at once.
Showed up some filtering problems that I'll have to work on before next
years effort.

Band by Band, Blow by Blow

160/80

A real downer from last years spectacular condx. Barely got out of the US.
KH6CC/PY0FF were shining standouts with good signals. Was looking better
for Saturday night until snow storm started up and the static discharges got
so bad that it lunched one 850 rx and threatened the second. We went to
sleep hoping that the sacrifice of one rx would make the RF gods happy.

40

Strange propagation. No EU Friday, more Saturday but not all that good even
so. Frustrating to have +20 signals call CQ in your face. Hi-point was
catching 5V7A.

20

Same as 40 until late Saturday when some long path EU's started showing up.
Sunday was much improved. Big JA runs.

15

No EU's until sunday and then only France and points south except for a
lone G3 that I pulled out of the mud. AF was big time here. Zone 35 was
everywhere! Huge JA runs on Sunday.

10

Yes! Only 7 Q's but it was much better than we had thought. ZM2K was a
bright spot. HC8N provided the only 6 band Q.

BIG BOO-BOO's

Not having the network ready at the beginning of the contest.
Shifting a coax to another antenna......while the rig is
transmitting....pretty blue arc.....
Not having enough rig to amp control lines......3 rigs, 3 amps, 2 control
cables.
Losing the cursor in CT.......you know how hard it is to log not knowing
where the cursor is?

PET PEEVE - Trying to pick up zones 3,4,5 and having "DX ONLY" thrown back
at us. Makes it kind of hard to fill in zone mults when you can't work them.

SUGGESTIONS:

Make a Low Power (&QRP?) M/M category. It's hard to compete against the
multi-killer watt stations back east.

Allow some points for state-side Q's so it's easier for those "DX ONLY"
folks to assuage their guilt.

Make CQWW happen 2 weeks after SS.....it was real hard to keep going after a
full tilt boogy the week before.
