The Rancho Costa Mucho contesters salute the WRTC teams for their
oustanding and astounding efforts in the 18 hour competition which
they participated in this past weekend. Who would have predicted
the incredible 2400+ QSO totals posted by the top three teams? Our
humble 1400 QSO total pales in comparison, even with a KW and
monobanders. What's wrong with this picture? Have we fallen into
the western black hole for sure this time? For several hours it
seemed like it with not a European to be heard on any band until
late in the morning. From then on the propagation was variable
with marginal openings in all directions. One JA was worked on 15
meters at about 1800Z - just about sunrise in JA. No others were
heard. No Europe on 15 this time.
