This is the third year that basicly the same group has "bugged" out of the
hot desert area of Phoenix and went up into the White Mountains at 7000 feet
amoung the cool pines, although it was hotter this year, mid 80's then the
two previous years. At least we didn't freeze at night as we have in the
past. Our location was approx 2 miles NE of Clay Springs, AZ (Spot on the
road on State Route 260) or about 15 miles West of Show Low, AZ. Everything
ran pretty smooth this year and no real problems that we couldn't correct as
field day unfolded. 6 meters was a big disappointment and only had 21 QSO
as was the rest of the VHF effort. One thing new for us this year was
satellite QSO's and we worked 7 stations on 2 passes. Still had the same
problem as last year and that is not enough operators for this class, but to
many for 1A. The location appears to be a very good radio location and very
quiet.
