Niko,
Thank you for being a gentleman about this situation and for doing the mod.
I only know the CLIX were VERY BAD when you were either 400 Hz or so above
me or below me. I did not check the total range of the clix but they were
at least a couple kHz above and below. I did not hear your signal when I
was S & P'ing to note for clix then. However, I was working weak JA
stations at the time and your signal made it totally impossible to copy them
where they were totally readable without your signal on the air.
Personally, I heard only two other stations with key clix during the entire
contest, so the situation on the band is getting much better.
Regards your modification; THANKS again for making the effort. I believe my
receiver is not at fault because at least two other stations have mentioned
your key clix in their 3830 reports. Did you do the W8JI mod or the INRAD
mod? Did you do before and after tests to see if there was a difference? I
do not know of anyone reporting a worsening of the problem from doing the
mod, but it is not out of the realm of possibility for that to occur.
If there is some on the air testing that you are able to do with the
transmitter and amp, from another location, I will be avaialbe for a
schedule to see if the clix still exist, etc. We can coordinate on the air
on SSB, do it real time on CW with coordination via the telephone.
Milt, N5IA
